WWE SmackDown August 7 2026 – Introduction
WWE SmackDown August 7, 2026 was a key installment of the blue brand. Therefore, after SummerSlam had just passed, the storyline moved onto the fallout of one of WWE’s most popular events of the summer. The Undisputed WWE Championship storylines were very intriguing with CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens.
The preliminary WWE Preview & Results page listed the show as built around various marquee storylines. Furthermore, these included Cody Rhodes’ epic showdown with CM Punk, Kevin Owens ending the former’s reign of terror on Punk, the US title match between champion Baron Corbin and challenger Trick Williams, and the eagerly awaited Charlotte Flair vs. Jade Cargill singles encounter.
If you’re eager for the WWE SmackDown August 7, 2026 full show highlights, then this episode definitely didn’t disappoint. Consequently, it provided more than the usual fallout from SummerSlam that we typically see. It also included a number of segments that introduced new feuds and even featured a surprise appearance that altered the direction of the women’s division. What To Expect From SmackDown After SummerSlam
The most pressing question in the buildup to SmackDown was how Cody Rhodes was going to react after Randy Orton’s interference in his shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship against CM Punk at SummerSlam.
Punk’s victory in defending the title was but a temporary respite. Therefore, the championship picture was far from resolved. Cody had appearances to make with Punk and Orton, and Kevin Owens’ history with the champion made the top of SmackDown’s marquee seem overly congested.
WWE’s official website featured an article dedicated to this segment. Furthermore, for an already heated feud between the two, the post-SummerSlam environment provided Cody with yet another opportunity to call Punk out.
In the meantime, it was time for Kevin Owens to face Punk. Therefore, instead of presenting their meeting as a typical title match, WWE capitalized on the previous history between the two to make it more personal. It was another chapter in the build-up to the Undisputed WWE Championship. Watch wrestling online to follow these storylines.
WWE SmackDown August 7 2026 Match Card
The August 7 episode had multiple matches and a few big moments in the ring. As confirmed, the highlights were:
| Match | Stakes |
|---|---|
| Charlotte Flair vs. Jade Cargill | Singles Match |
| Baron Corbin vs. Trick Williams | United States Championship |
| Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid vs. Chelsea Green & Tiffany Stratton | WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship |
| Cody Rhodes confronting Randy Orton | Segment |
| Cody Rhodes confronting CM Punk | Segment |
| Kevin Owens confronting CM Punk | Segment |
Additionally, the show gained significance for two surprise appearances in the women’s category. Alexa Bliss came back, and Tatum Paxley had her first appearance in Charlotte Flair and Jade Cargill’s angle.
This alliance made the episode more significant as an integral part of the championship matches storylines and the “first” chapter of many subsequent rivalries. Watch WWE SmackDown highlights to see all the matches.
CM Punk And Cody Rhodes Raise The Stakes
CM Punk and Cody Rhodes stayed front and center in the title picture. Therefore, following the shocking SummerSlam battle they fought in, things between these two stars have yet to cool down.
Cody responded to Punk’s challenge by seizing the opportunity to set the record straight. Furthermore, WWE characterized the “backstage fight” between Punk and Cody as a fiery face-off directly after the SummerSlam championship match.
The one major problem was having Randy Orton involved. Orton had denied Cody the chance to possibly win the title at SummerSlam. Consequently, there was another reason for Cody to be mad, even though Punk was still champion.
This made things very complicated: Cody wanted the belt, Punk wanted to keep his champion status, and Orton walked directly onto the course Cody had set out. Watch wrestling online free to see this tension unfold.
Kevin Owens Confronts Undisputed Champion CM Punk
Later in the night, Kevin Owens got one of the more prominent segments when he and CM Punk clashed.
Instead of shifting directly into another typical championship match, WWE leaned on the history between Punk and Owens. Therefore, Punk and Owens reminisced about past encounters and heated moments, giving the segment more personal depth than a typical promotional promo.
The match is one of the featured matches WWE advertised for that night.
It is significant that Owens is around because he offers a different type of challenge to Punk. Furthermore, with Cody, the narrative is clearly one of championship pursuit; with Orton, it is one of betrayal. Owens’s presence helps make the story more personal.
That leaves the situation of the Undisputed WWE Championship open to several possibilities following SummerSlam.
Cody Rhodes And Randy Orton Finally Clash
One of the most anticipated match-ups of the night was Cody Rhodes finally getting to see Randy Orton in the ring.
The feud kicked off straight after SummerSlam when Orton stopped Cody possibly winning the Undisputed WWE Title off Punk. Therefore, WWE called their SmackDown meeting a heated argument over Orton’s conduct.
For Cody, it was no longer about just becoming champion. Consequently, Orton had himself entered into the situation, making it a competitive rivalry that could last for a long time.
The rivalry ended up providing WWE with yet another high-profile singles storyline to be played out on the SmackDown brand. Furthermore, a story can now be built on history rather than just rankings.
Baron Corbin Defends The United States Title
The US Championship was also there when Baron Corbin was competing against the ex-champion, Trick Williams, in a SummerSlam rematch.
Trick was all over Corbin for the majority of the contest and seemed to be on his way to victory. Therefore, after hitting Corbin with a Death Valley Driver, the champion looked finished until Corbin hit End of Days. Williams hit Book End then Trick Shot.
And then Corbin managed to kick out with the bottom rope after the Trick Shot so he could survive.
As the champion was about to be defeated, he cheated. Consequently, when the referee wasn’t paying attention, Corbin hit Trick with the championship and covered him.
Corbin could still walk away from this with the US title. However, everyone’s favorite American hero in Trick did now have a legitimate gripe. While the finish protected Williams, it still cemented Corbin as a titleholder who would do whatever it takes to hold onto his strap. Watch WWE SmackDown highlights to see this match.
Women’s Tag Team Title Match Brings More Chaos
The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship was also one of the featured attractions on the August 7 show.
Existing Champions Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid of Fatal Influence challenged Current Interim WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green and Women’s United States Champion Tiffany Stratton.
The match was played out in a very unusual way. Therefore, because it was all four of the guys taking part who were champions, it was more than just a regular two-on-two match.
Jacy Jayne was instrumental in the result. Furthermore, according to WWE, Jayne struck Green with the Rolling Encore behind the referee’s back. This enabled Henley to deliver a drop to Stratton, up until Henley and Reid executed a Fatal Flaw to win.
The issues persisted even after the bell sounded.
Following the match, The Irresistible Forces attacked Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton. Consequently, the post-match attack further enriched the women’s tag-team championship storyline and served to guarantee that the feud would last beyond the actual match.
Charlotte Flair And Jade Cargill Collide
One of the most hyped women’s matches was Charlotte Flair and Jade Cargill.
Finally, the two went face to face, and it became a hard-hitting contest. Cargill showed off her strength when she hit a massive Burning Hammer powerbomb. However, Flair was still able to kick out.
Later in the match, Flair tried to hit a top-rope hurricanrana. Therefore, Cargill caught her and hit her with a top-rope powerbomb. That spot was what made this rivalry so highly anticipated as one of the best singles matchups on the card.
The finish, however, turned everything around for the match.
Following a missed big boot by Cargill, Flair applied the Figure-Eight Leglock. Furthermore, Flair was aided by the arrival of Michin and B-Fab which stopped him from just ending the match.
Then I was taken aback.
Alexa Bliss Returns During A Major Match
Alexa Bliss returned during the Charlotte Flair and Jade Cargill segment, which immediately provided a huge surprise aspect to the segment.
Her debut was not the only shocker. Tatum Paxley also appeared in the storyline, attacking Michin and B-Fab with a crossbody from the top rope to ringside.
This was the interference needed for the match to continue. Consequently, this sent Flair and Cargill back at it.
That sealed the deal, as Flair connected with Sister Abigail and then a top-rope Natural Selection to secure the win against Cargill.
The outcome was significant. However, perhaps the most interesting aspect was what occurred beside the match. The return of Alexa Bliss and debut of Tatum Paxley instantly opened up new paths for the women’s division. Watch wrestling online to see this shocking return.

Why The August 7 Show Matters
The following was very significant about the August 7 edition of SmackDown. Therefore, this show helped set the stage for other WWE storylines that could be relevant right after SummerSlam.
The landscape of the Undisputed WWE Championship grew murkier with CM Punk in possession of the title. Furthermore, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens all further encroached upon the championship picture. On the other hand, Baron Corbin appeared secure in his position as US Champion after successfully defending against a vehement Trick Williams, even if a rematch looms.
There might have been no bigger shock for the ladies’ division than Charlotte taking down Jade. However, the impact of what happened when finally we saw the return of Alexa Bliss and the debut of Tatum Paxley was arguably even bigger.
As of now, for those fans searching for SmackDown August 7 2026 highlights, the show was therefore less about one prominent storyline and more about building a number of key feuds simultaneously. Consequently, unresolved championship issues and new contenders emerging meant that by the time the show finished, the next phase of SmackDown was already starting to shape up. WWE SmackDown August 7 2026 Results
WWE SmackDown August 7, 2026 had a very action-filled show with a lot of great matches, heated rivalries, and shocking surprises. Therefore, the show kept the momentum from SummerSlam going and set up a few new stories for both sides.
While the main stories involved CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens, the episode also saw significant things happen with Baron Corbin, Trick Williams, Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, Chelsea Green, Tiffany Stratton, and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.
It was the return of Alexa Bliss and the debut of Tatum Paxley in the Charlotte Flair and Jade Cargill saga that made the show memorable. Watch wrestling online free to see all the results.
Where Was WWE SmackDown Held On August 7?
Broadcast on August 7, 2026, as part of WWE’s usual weekly Friday night SmackDown programming. Furthermore, WWE’s official coverage of the event puts the episode under the August 7 SmackDown date and features the official results and video highlights.
For those looking for the location, date, and where to watch the show, the only absolute source for a certain date is for WWE to put out an official post about the SmackDown event page. Consequently, the WWE does this to release its official episode details and results.
The show was broadcast on Friday, August 7, 2026, and continued WWE’s weekly SmackDown television broadcasting, following the SummerSlam event.
Baron Corbin Defeats Trick Williams Again
Baron Corbin defeated Trick Williams in one of the two significant title matches on the show to successfully defend his United States Title.
Williams entered the bout looking to get some momentum back after his last championship match. Therefore, he battled Corbin through an intense contest, hitting some of his biggest moves.
Trick hit a Death Valley Driver and then a Book End. Furthermore, he hit a Trick Shot as well, setting up what looked to be a title-winning move.
Corbin was able to break the pin by placing his foot on the bottom rope before the referee could complete the three count.
And the champion took advantage of the opening. Consequently, as the referee was distracted, Corbin used the US Championship as a weapon on Williams and then made the cover.
Corbin was announced the winner and kept his United States Championship.
The controversial ending kept this rivalry alive. Therefore, Williams lost on the basis that Corbin’s wrestling was better and why need WWE to take it further. Watch WWE SmackDown highlights to see this match.
Charlotte Flair Beats Jade Cargill
In a high-profile singles match, Charlotte Flair was victorious over Jade Cargill in what was arguably the most discussed match of the episode.
Cargill was an absolute beast in this match, hitting a beautiful Burning Hammer powerbomb that almost finished off Flair. However, Flair managed to kick out and keep competing.
Cargill then executed a top-rope powerbomb in response to a top-rope hurricanrana. Furthermore, this showcased the physical dominance that contributed to why she was such a deadly competitor.
The game descended into chaos with intervention from outside forces.
They got involved and helped Cargill out at a crucial time. However, they were soon interrupted by the shocking arrival of Tatum Paxley.
Paxley hurricanrana’d Michin and B-Fab with a crossbody from the top rope. Consequently, the match was not over.
Flair finally managed to find a gap, rolling Cargill up and catching her in the Figure-Eight Leglock. Furthermore, she then hit Sister Abigail, following up with a top-rope Natural Selection.
This combo made Charlotte Flair beat Jade Cargill. Watch wrestling online to see this match.
Alexa Bliss Makes A Surprise WWE Return
One of the biggest surprises of the whole show happened in the Charlotte Flair / Jade Cargill match when Alexa Bliss made her return.
Bliss’s heel turn had a massive impact on the women’s division, and her debut immediately lifted the area of the business. Therefore, her debut was not just treated as a one-off, but a part of a major storyline.
WWE has used shock arrivals to reignite new feuds and revive long-standing divisions. Consequently, the appearance of Bliss can be just what the company needs after SummerSlam to have another well-known name to throw in the mix.
Her comeback also leads one to wonder which other championship or feud she might go after. Watch WWE SmackDown highlights to see this shocking return.
Tatum Paxley Arrives In A Big Moment
Tatum Paxley played a prominent role too, especially in Charlotte Flair and Jade Cargill interactions.
When Michin and B-Fab got involved, Paxley showed up and hit a top-rope crossbody from the apron down to the ringside area. Therefore, Paxley’s appearance helped turn the tides of the mayhem happening in the ringside vicinity.
This debut is more than a little interesting since it seems to take Paxley beyond the fringes and weave her into a story involving some already known names.
Charlotte Flair beats Cargill, while Alexa Bliss gives her comeback. Consequently, the following time WWE can start in the Women’s division.
Fatal Influence Retains The Women’s Tag Titles
The WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions – Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid – retained their titles against Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton.
The challengers came into the match with serious championship credentials. Therefore, this made this one of the strangest title matches on the card.
The plans for Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton in tag team competition turned into an unsuccessful effort. Furthermore, members of the outside interfering team drastically affected the outcome of the match.
Jacy Jayne hit Green with the Rolling Encore while the referee was distracted. Consequently, Henley then put Stratton down and Fatal Influence finished with Fatal Flaw to win.
Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid were, as a result, retained as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.
The defeat, however, didn’t mark the end of the storyline. Furthermore, things went more haywire after the match, with the Irresistible Forces attacking Green and Stratton.
That post-match spot helped plant the seeds for another rivalry within the women’s tag-team scene.
Cody Rhodes And CM Punk Continue Their Tension
One of the most significant non-wrestling segments was between CM Punk and Cody Rhodes.
The history was also kept alive by the storylines surrounding the two stars. Therefore, at SummerSlam, Cody was attempting to win the championship, but Randy Orton messed it up and once again kept the two stars intertwined.
Cody got Punk on SmackDown and let him know that his attitude is not forgotten.
Punk still was a key part of the championship story. However, the ex-champion appeared unwilling to let things pass, as indicated by Cody’s irritation.
This is significant as the WWE Championship picture now has a handful of possible number one contenders instead of a clear-cut one. Watch wrestling online free to follow this tension.
Kevin Owens Adds Another Threat To CM Punk
Kevin Owens also had a heated exchange with CM Punk on the show.
The fact that their rivalry only increased the drama at the top of the championship. Therefore, the history between Owens and Punk goes deeper than just the chance of winning a title.
This was a heated and personal rivalry. Consequently, it further solidified Owens as yet another potential obstacle in Punk’s rise.
As Cody Rhodes continued to seek answers and Kevin Owens turned the screws, a challenge to the throne became ever more imminent for CM Punk.
The episode left the fans with many different options for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Randy Orton Explains His Actions
Randy Orton was constant on the screen throughout the whole of the show with his close connection to Cody Rhodes.
Orton’s conduct at SummerSlam had altered the dynamic between the two men. Therefore, SmackDown offered Orton a platform to justify himself.
The name-calling of Cody made the issue a personal one.
It was only natural for the frustration to show on Cody’s face because Orton’s move had directly prevented him from vying for the title. Furthermore, Orton, on the other hand, explained his move as a result of having a bigger fight with Cody in mind.
The segment solidified a budding rivalry that would continue in the years to come.
What Happened After The Major Matches?
The key point I take away from the August 7 SmackDown results is that almost no storylines got wrapped up.
Baron Corbin won and kept the United States Championship, although he won in controversial fashion. Consequently, the victory kept Trick Williams in the hunt.
Charlotte Flair beat Jade Cargill. However, the return of Alexa Bliss and entry of Tatum Paxley opened up many more.
In its first defense, Fatal Influence successfully defended the Women’s Tag Team Title. However, The Irresistible Forces attacked Green and Stratton.
Leading the story of the Undisputed WWE Championship at the top of the card was CM Punk. Therefore, keeping the spotlight focused on him, together with Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens. Watch WWE SmackDown highlights to see what happens next.
Biggest SmackDown Highlights From August 7
This is a list of the highlights from the show:
-
CM Punk stayed firmly on top of the WWE Championship angle. His rivalry with Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens was instrumental in keeping the title story current.
-
Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes resumed their personal feud which was supposedly suspended. Orton’s incidents that happened at SummerSlam were still causing trouble.
-
Baron Corbin successfully defended his US title. By using most questionable methods, he thwarted Trick Williams in his attempt to win the title.
-
Charlotte Flair was successful against Jade Cargill. There were a number of key physical moments within the match before victory was achieved.
-
And then came Alexa Bliss. Her unannounced appearance brought the women’s division into sudden focus.
-
Tatum Paxley was a fresh addition. Her appearance in the Charlotte-Cargill promo worked to turn that segment into something unpredictable.
-
Fatal Influence held onto the Women’s Tag Team Championship. Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid won against Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton due to outside interference at the end.
Why These Results Matter For WWE Fans
The August 7 edition was meant to push WWE beyond SummerSlam. Therefore, not merely bring to an end storylines that began there.
The picture for the men’s championship was getting more and more convoluted. Furthermore, all four contenders – Punk, Cody, Orton, and Owens – found themselves booked into the same major storyline.
We kept the United States Championship rivalry going a little longer as well. Consequently, Corbin’s win over Trick Williams was a little shady.
In the women’s division, some of the night’s biggest surprises were witnessed. Therefore, the result of Charlotte Flair over Jade Cargill was big enough in its own right. However, having Alexa Bliss’s return and Tatum Paxley’s arrival in the mix made the post-match even more so.
If you wanted the WWE SmackDown results and highlights for 8/7/26, you got the type of show that is perfect following a SummerSlam. Consequently, we saw several title matches, lingering plots to resolve, surprise appearances, and a few storylines leading into the next big thing.
The biggest question mark after watching the show is where WWE goes next with CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens. Therefore, with the Undisputed WWE Championship still in the main event picture of the blue brand, the rivalry between these four men will probably be the main story on SmackDown for weeks to come.
